Celsius

Celsius or centigrade is a unit of measurement of temperature.

The freezing/melting point of water at a pressure of 1 atmosphere is approximately zero degrees Celsius (0 °C).

The boiling point of water at a pressure of 1 atmosphere is about one hundred degrees Celsius (100 °C).

The exact values ​​depend on the composition of the water (usually the amount of salt) and the air pressure.

Seawater contains salt and the freezing point falls below 0 °C.

Boiling water on a mountain above sea level lowers the boiling point by 100 °C.

Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion

So 0 degrees Celsius is equal to 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

So The temperature T in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) is equal to the temperature T in degrees Celsius (°C) times 9/5 plus 32:

T(°F) = T(°C) × 9/5 + 32

Example 1

Convert 15 degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit:

T(°F) = 15°C × 9/5 + 32 = 59 °F

Example 2

Convert 26 degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit:

T(°F) = 26°C × 9/5 + 32 = 78.8 °F

Example 3

Convert 30 degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit:

T(°F) = 30°C × 9/5 + 32 = 86 °F

Celsius to Kelvin conversion

0 degrees Celsius is equal to 273.15 degrees Kelvin:

0 °C = 273.15 K

So The temperature T in Kelvin (K) is equal to the temperature T in degrees Celsius (°C) plus [273.15]

T(K) = T(°C) + 273.15

Example 1

Convert 15 degrees Celsius to Kelvin:

T(K) = 15°C + 273.15 = 288.15 K

Example 2

Convert 25 degrees Celsius to Kelvin:

T(K) = 25°C + 273.15 = 298.15 K

Example 3

Convert 30 degrees Celsius to Kelvin:

T(K) = 30°C + 273.15 = 303.15 K

Celsius to Rankine conversion

So The temperature T in degrees Rankine (°R) is equal to the temperature T in degrees Celsius (°C) plus 273.15, times 9/5.

T(°R) = (T(°C) + 273.15) × 9/5

Example 1

Convert 15 degrees Celsius to degrees Rankine:

T(°R) = (15°C + 273.15) × 9/5 = 518.67 °R

Example 2

Convert 25 degrees Celsius to degrees Rankine:

T(°R) = (25°C + 273.15) × 9/5 = 536.67 °R

Example 3

Convert 30 degrees Celsius to degrees Rankine:

T(°R) = (30°C + 273.15) × 9/5 = 545.67 °R
