How to convert power in refrigeration tons (RT) to BTU per hour (BTU/h).
One refrigeration ton is equal to 12000 BTUs per hour:
1 RT = 12000 BTU/hr
One BTU per hour is equal to 8.33333×10-5 refrigeration ton:
1 BTU/hr = 8.33333×10-5 RT
So the power P in BTUs per hour (BTU/hr) is equal to 12000 times the power P in refrigeration tons (RT):
P(BTU/hr) = 12000 × P(RT)
Example 1
Convert 3 RT to BTU/hr:
P(BTU/hr) = 12000 × 3 RT = 36000 BTU/hr
Example 2
Convert 5 RT to BTU/hr:
P(BTU/hr) = 12000 × 5 RT = 60000 BTU/hr
Example 3
Convert 8 RT to BTU/hr:
P(BTU/hr) = 12000 × 8 RT = 96000 BTU/hr
Example 4
Convert 20 RT to BTU/hr:
P(BTU/hr) = 12000 × 20 RT = 240000 BTU/hr
Example 5
Convert 30 RT to BTU/hr:
P(BTU/hr) = 12000 × 30 RT = 360000 BTU/hr
