## DC kilowatts to amps calculation

So The current I in amps (A) is equal to [1000] times the power P in kilowatts (kW), divided by the voltage  V in volts (V).

I(A) = 1000 × P(kW) / V(V)

#### Example 1

What is the current in amps when the power consumption is 0.33 kilowatts and the voltage supply is 120 volts?

I = 1000 × 0.33kW / 120V = 2.75A

#### Example 2

What is the current in amps when the power consumption is 0.33 kilowatts and the voltage supply is 150 volts?

I = 1000 × 0.33kW / 150V = 2.2A

## AC single phase kilowatts to amps calculation

So The phase current I in amps (A) is equal to [1000] times the power P in kilowatts (kW), divided by the power factor  PF times the RMS voltage  V in volts (V).

I(A) = 1000 × P(kW) / (PF × V(V) )

#### Example 1

What is the phase current in amps when the power consumption is 0.33 kilowatts, the power factor is 0.8 and the RMS voltage supply is 120 volts?

I = 1000 × 0.33kW / (0.8 × 120V) = 3.4375A

#### Example 2

What is the phase current in amps when the power consumption is 0.33 kilowatts, the power factor is 0.8 and the RMS voltage supply is 150 volts?

I = 1000 × 0.33kW / (0.8 × 150V) = 2.75A

## AC three phase kilowatts to amps calculation

#### Calculation with line to line voltage

So The phase current I in amps (A) is equal to [1000] times the power P in kilowatts (kW), divided by square root of 3 times the power factor  PF times the line to line RMS voltage  VL-L in volts (V).

I(A) = 1000 × P(kW) / (3 × PF × VL-L(V) )

#### Example 1

What is the phase current in amps when the power consumption is 0.33 kilowatts, the power factor is 0.8 and the voltage supply is 120 volts?

I = 1000 × 0.33kW / (3 × 0.8 × 120V) = 1.984A

#### Example 2

What is the phase current in amps when the power consumption is 0.33 kilowatts, the power factor is 0.8 and the voltage supply is 150 volts?

I = 1000 × 0.33kW / (3 × 0.8 × 150V) = 1.587A

#### Calculation with line to neutral voltage

So The phase current I in amps (A) is equal to [1000] times the power P in kilowatts (kW), divided by 3 times the power factor  PF times the line to neutral RMS voltage  VL-N in volts (V).

I(A) = 1000 × P(kW) / (3 × PF × VL-N(V) )
